Cousins

This summer has flown by and now that the kids are just starting to head back to school, I’m beginning to catch up on all those summer sessions that I haven’t found enough time to blog.  This one is back from May.  Yes, May… technically not even summer yet.  It was a session near + dear to my heart as we decided to shoot it as a 40th anniversary gift for my in-laws.

Plans were made, kids were corralled, outfits were (somewhat) coordinated, and memories were made.  I’m going to be honest, photographing six kids is not the easiest thing in the world…. especially when you ask them all to sit down in gravel and hang out for a little bit.  It turns into a giant sandbox.  So there was a lot of gravel being thrown, and lots of screaming and shrieking, and smashing each other’s legs and stepping on toes.

I’m going to let you in on a little secret. When things get out of control (I mean really out of control), there’s only one thing to do.  Laugh.  You laugh.  It gets their attention every time.  Every. Single. Time.  So, in the end, not only do you have images full of truly beautiful, genuine smiles, but you also have some great memories.  And that is a truly successful photo session.
